Inaugural Emerson Steele Golf Classic

We are thrilled to introduce the inaugural Emerson Steele Golf Classic, a Golf Outing slated for Monday, April 29, 2024, at the Piedmont Golf Course. As a recognized tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization, we invite you to join us in this celebration of achievement and community spirit.

The Emerson Steele Charity Golf Classic is an extension of our commitment to excellence, offering a day of unparalleled golf and camaraderie.  The proceeds generated from this event will be directed towards scholarships, mentoring, and community service programming for deserving students in Northern Virginia, empowering them on their educational journeys.

Emerson Steele, born on December 12, 1977, in Jacksonville, Florida, had a rich and deeply rooted background in community engagement and spiritual leadership. Growing up, he actively participated in the vibrant community of St. Joseph’s Baptist Church, contributing to the youth choir, Young Men’s of Christ, ushering, and serving as the vice president of the youth ministry. His unwavering faith and strong connection to the church remained a constant throughout his life.

Inspired by witnessing a friend's transformative journey, Emerson felt a divine calling to ministry. This calling led him to become a deacon, elder, and eventually a pastor at New Wineskins Covenant Fellowship. His commitment to spiritual leadership was a testament to the enduring impact of his faith.

Emerson V. Steele joined the Alpha Xi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. at Florida A&M University in the fall of 1996. Throughout his college years, he demonstrated exceptional dedication and hard work as a member of the fraternity. Following graduation, Emerson relocated to Virginia, where he continued his service in various chapters, including Alexandria-Fairfax, Dulles-Leesburg Alumni, and instrumental involvement in establishing the Gainesville-Manassas Alumni Chapter.

Beyond his fraternity involvement, Emerson was a devoted husband, pastor, father, brother, and friend. He consistently embodied the ideals of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. His legacy lives on through his wife, Yvette, and children the impact he made in both spiritual and fraternal communities.

NVKAF's Dedication Through the Years

Our commitment to Northern Virginia's youth has been nothing short of stellar. Since 2014, NVKAF has contributed over $60,000 to empower education in our community. We are setting the pace for driving dreams and igniting futures.

NVKAF Scholarships

The Northern Virginia Kappa Achievement Foundation, Inc. (NVKAF), in partnership with the esteemed brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., takes pride in empowering the next generation through educational funding. Since its inception in 2011, NVKAF has been at the forefront of nurturing academic excellence in the community by awarding scholarships to high school students who demonstrate remarkable potential.

Annually, NVKAF hosts its flagship event, the “Women of Achievement” Luncheon, a celebration that honors exceptional women whose contributions have significantly enriched our communities. These inspiring women are not just celebrated for their achievements but also for their dedication to fostering

growth and success in others. The funds raised through this event are pivotal in supporting the educational aspirations of our community's youth.

To date, NVKAF's commitment to education is evident in the 46 scholarships awarded to deserving students since the 2011-12 academic year. With each passing year, the foundation broadens its impact, reaching more students and nurturing more dreams.

Beyond educational support, NVKAF has extended its benevolence to various community initiatives. During the challenging times of COVID-19, the foundation stood by healthcare workers, providing meals to hospital staff as a gesture of gratitude and solidarity. Moreover, our collaboration with Habitat for Humanity, Metz Middle School, and other vital community organizations underscores our dedication to holistic community development.

In essence, the Northern Virginia Kappa Achievement Foundation, Inc. is more than a scholarship provider; it is a beacon of hope and a catalyst for change, continually striving to uplift and transform lives through education and community involvement.

We offer a suite of 9 scholarships, including 4 prestigious named scholarships, in close partnership with the Gainesville-Manassas Alumni (VA) Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
